One of a rare and powerful pair of heavy industrial steelwork pictures. This one features the forging process. To the right of the painting a man stands operating the very heavy industrial hammer. In the foreground two men are putting in the molten piece of iron to be shaped by the hammer. Beside them stands a man with a brush to remove the smuts created by the hammering process. To the left stands the boss in his homburg hat, observing. This is a mixed media painting of watercolour and oils on card and was probably done by an accomplished factory worker.In contemporary angle iron frame.English, circa 1930.
