These rare pieces, table chests and table cabinets, were designed to sit on top of escritoires and bureaux to provide extra document storage but mostly to look beautiful. The marquetry has a stained sycamore ground with many recognisable flowers such as tulips and carnations. The border is a stylised scrolling in box wood and the drawer linings are quarter cut oak. The sides depict stylised floral urns.
